Community Involvement
- THE CARPENTER LAW FIRM, PC, supports the Upstate South Carolina region through the involvement of its members in community activities.
- James G. Carpenter has served as corporate secretary on the board of Miracle Hill Ministries, Inc., a non-profit corporation which shelters and serves homeless men, women, and children at several facilities in the Upstate. Mr. Carpenter also serves the community as a Ruling Elder at Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
- Mr. Carpenter has contributed several articles to various publications. The April, 1985 issue of the Journal of Law and Education included his article "Regulation of Religious Schools."
- His article "An Overview of the ADA Regulations" was published in the South Carolina Employment and Labor Law Update in 1991.
- And Mr. Carpenter's article "Curiosity Kills the Company" was included in the 1994-95 Career Guide of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.
- Jennifer J. Miller serves as the elected church secretary at Trinity Baptist Church at Limestone in Gaffney, South Carolina. Mrs. Miller has also devoted her time to the Good Samaritan Program, a joint effort of The United Way, the State of South Carolina, and Bob Jones University to mentor families receiving welfare assistance.
- She serves as a volunteer with the South Carolina Bar's "Ask-a-Lawyer" program. Mrs. Miller has also coached a South Carolina highschool moot court team for the 2001 state competition and has served as an intercollegiate policy debate judge in 2000 and 2001.
- She has contributed articles to several South Carolina publications. The March/April issue of the South Carolina Lawyer contained Mrs. Miller's piece "Cameras in courtrooms: the lens of the public eye on our system of justice."
- And the September 25, 2000 issue of the Greenville News included her opinion editorial "Media coverage of courtrooms protects the righs of all of us."
